St. Paul Auditorium

Description

The original St Paul Auditorium, built in 1907. In 1931 a second "New Auditorium" was built next door and the two were collectively known as the St. Paul Auditorium, with this original auditorium generally referred to as the theater section and the new venue being called the auditorium. Being more of a traditional proscenium theater, this stage hosted theatrical performances including national tours of musicals. When it was demolished in 1982, the seoncd auditorium remained and was renovated. It later reopened as the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in Dec 1984. The site of this older auditorium would later become the western half of what is now the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
