836 Montgomery Street
San Francisco, California 94133
United States
For most of its life this location was a standard commercial building. For a brief period in the late 1960s it was a second home The Committee, and improv troupe previously founded in 1963 by Alan and Jessica Myerson, both alumni of Second City. It was here that the San Francisco production of "The Boys in the Band" performed. The space returned to commercial use for several more decades until 2014 when it was renovated and reimagined as 836M, the home of a non-profit arts organization. They host gallery exhibitions, artist residencies, documentary screenings, an ephemeral mural program and innovative partnerships. Most important, for the context of this archive, they also host a regular concert series.
