The authorship of this play is unclear. It was not included in Shakespeare's First Folio and several theories have been offered. The first half may have been written by George Wilkins, who originally published "The Adventures of Pericles Prince of Tyre" as the prose version of the play. The remainder is believed to be by Shakespeare. The play was printed as a quarto in 1609 with Shakespeare alone as the author.
